HUDDERSFIELD 3XI 4 v KING CROSS 1
Huddersfield stuttered their way to a 4-1 win against bottom side King Cross at home on Saturday. In a first half performance that lacked the passion and commitment of previous weeks Huddersfield went a goal behind to a well worked and well finished short corner. Despite going a goal behind Huddersfield were still not spurred into action and were fortunate not to go a further goal behind midway through the half. Elson and Connell had good opportunities to level the scores and a great through ball from Hindmarsh found Moscrop one on one with the keeper, he converted the chance but infringed in doing so and the goal was disallowed. Just before half time Huddersfield did level the scores. A powerful strike from Elson giving the King Cross keeper no chance. 1-1 at half time was not a scoreline that Huddersfield were looking for and despite stern words the second half started off in a similar way with passes being missed and composure lacking. As Huddersfield continued to be frustrated the game became more bad tempered and cards were issued to both sides, and Elson was sent off. This seemed to finally push Huddersfield into action, their passing game returned and the majority of play for the last 20 minutes took place in the oppositions half. Good work from Connell saw him drive into the D and finally give Huddersfield the lead. As King Cross began to tire after working very hard Abbey took advantage and a skilful, determined run from half way ended with him slipping the ball to Kullar who put the game beyond the away side. Swindells converted late on after determined work in front of the King Cross goal to give Huddersfield a slightly flattering win.
