Derby victory is vital to hopes
From the Huddersfield Examiner (30th January 2009)
HUDDERSFIELD Hockey Club’s first team entertain Halifax tomorrow in a big Yorkshire Premier League derby at Lockwood Park (1.30), when the top-placed home side are chasing a sixth successive win.
Halifax won 2-1 at home earlier in the season in a game that featured a host of squandered Huddersfield chances and an in-form Halifax keeper, so it will be crucial to the outcome of this return match that the Lockwood Park men can dominate again, but this time ensure the game is put beyond Halifax’s reach.
Huddersfield’s defence have been solid all season and they will make it difficult for Halifax to score, which means if they can fire up front then they should have too much in hand.
The Seconds and Fifths visit City of York, while the Thirds are at home to York.
The Fourth XI are at home to Sheffield Hallam, as are the Sevenths, while the Sixth XI are at away to Slazengers.
