Huddersfield put in a strong performance to keep their challenge for promotion alive. York were the visitors to Lockwood on Saturday and Huddersfield completed a comprehensive season double on them. The home side started very strongly with some superb one touch passing taking place in the York half resulting in several good opportunities to open the scoring. Huddersfield’s first came as Hindmarsh picked up a strong through ball from Maddeford; he fed Kullar who in turn found Beaumont free in the D who converted well. Huddersfield maintained the pressure and a succession of short corners resulted. Maddeford converted two with a couple of superb strikes and then fed Hindmarsh on the post who converted Huddersfield’s fourth. Huddersfield’s passing game then seemed to disappear for the remainder of the first half, over confidence seemed to settle in and York began to get themselves into the game. Olly Durrant made a couple of important saves in the Huddersfield goal and some strong tackling from Taylor, Mills and Hamed kept the away side at bay. Half time arrived at just the right time, allowing Huddersfield to regroup. Huddersfield began the second half a little slowly but gradually their passing game returned, some quick breaks from Moscrop and Beaumont down the right and some great ball movement around the Huddersfield midfield gradually began to wear York down. As the away side tired, Beaumont was again found free in the D and slotted home his second, several more short corner opportunities went begging and when the Huddersfield defence found themselves too far up field York snatched the opportunity and broke quickly to score a consolation. With 10 minutes to go Beaumont completed his hatrick as he scored Huddersfield’s sixth. In truth, Huddersfield should have scored a hatful more and, had they maintained their level of play and discipline throughout the full 70 minutes, they would have done. On the whole a great performance but with some tough games coming up Huddersfield will need to be at their best.
Huddersfield’s winning streak ended with a draw to local rivals Halifax. It was a game that was hard to call either way as both teams were careless in possession, conceded and created a host of chances. Huddersfield had a dire start to the match and with better Halifax finishing could have been put away within the first 15 minutes. To their credit though after going a goal behind Huddersfield performed much better and got a deserved equalizer after Jimmy Swindens skilful work to create space form a short corner and an accurate bottom right finish. Huddersfield then created a string of their own chances but found the Halifax keeper up to the challenge.

one thing you might not have noticed is that you have the ability to comment on anything put up on the website.
After planning this for a while I’ve managed to get round to reconfiguring the website, let me know if you see any glaring omissions, apart from the Juniors section which will be along soon.
